This is a German Kunz no 7 attempt airplane. I are not able to decide the age of this aircraft, as minor is knob about the enterprise. This specific aircraft is just one of my heirlooms, as it at the time belonged to my late grandfather. This plane was most likely applied by him in a lot of distinctive means but since he developed his summer cottage in the Finnish archipelago by him´myself, I would suppose that this airplane was really significantly concerned.

The airplane has been just about unused considering that the early 1970s when my grandfather passed away. And getting develop into interested in woodworking I stumbled about this hand airplane when visiting the summer season cottage in 2011. Immediately after paying just about forty several years in a unheated summer time cottage and currently being uncovered to the damp and salty winds of the Gulf of Finland, this aircraft experienced even now managed very nicely. When I observed the plane it was clearly afflicted with light-weight floor rust and what seemed like salt stains on the sole, but all in all, the plane experienced survived extremely perfectly.
Herr Gustav Kunz was a modest person. The aircraft was only marked with the company identify at the the toe with the product selection at the heel. The lever cap and iron are unmarked at the entrance, but if you transform the iron around, the initials GK are stamped at the back.

This airplane is not fitted with a frog changing screw on the back again of the frog. Also the blade adjuster is instead small, in particular contemplating the dimensions of the airplane. The good point is that it leaves more home for your hand, but turning the wheel with just two fingers can be a little bit of an problem.

The plane is in pretty respectable condition, with only slight reduction of the japanning. Just about every section on this airplane seems to be unique. The handles surface to be apple. They are lacquered but I are not able to explain to if this was first or anything my grandfather included.

The user practical experience is incredibly good. The Kunz iron is a very good a single and marginally thicker than the Stanley irons. I have not fettled a complete lot with it as I quite seldom have a need for a no 7 and I also want to make absolutely sure I is not going to hurt it.
