This is a German Kunz no 7 check out aircraft. I simply cannot identify the age of this aircraft, as little is knob about the organization. This distinct aircraft is one of my heirlooms, as it at the time belonged to my late grandfather. This aircraft was in all probability applied by him in numerous distinctive methods but because he developed his summer time cottage in the Finnish archipelago by him´myself, I would believe that this aircraft was really considerably associated.

The plane has been pretty much unused since the early 1970s when my grandfather passed away. And acquiring come to be fascinated in woodworking I stumbled above this hand airplane when viewing the summertime cottage in 2011. Immediately after spending practically forty many years in a unheated summer season cottage and being exposed to the damp and salty winds of the Gulf of Finland, this plane experienced however managed incredibly effectively. When I observed the airplane it was clearly affected with mild surface area rust and what seemed like salt stains on the sole, but all in all, the airplane had survived very properly.
Herr Gustav Kunz was a modest person. The aircraft was only marked with the business name at the the toe with the design selection at the heel. The lever cap and iron are unmarked at the entrance, but if you transform the iron all over, the initials GK are stamped at the back again.

This plane is not fitted with a frog modifying screw on the back again of the frog. Also the blade adjuster is fairly small, in particular thinking of the dimensions of the airplane. The superior issue is that it leaves additional home for your hand, but turning the wheel with just two fingers can be a bit of an issue.

The aircraft is in pretty good shape, with only slight loss of the japanning. Every single portion on this airplane appears to be first. The handles appear to be apple. They are lacquered but I can not inform if this was original or anything my grandfather added.

The user knowledge is very good. The Kunz iron is a great one particular and a bit thicker than the Stanley irons. I have not fettled a whole ton with it as I very rarely have a will need for a no 7 and I also want to make sure I will not damage it.
