Vizcaya was the winter residence of American industrialist James Deering from Xmas 1916 until his dying in 1925. Deering was a Vice President of the International Harvester Firm, which generated agricultural products for a worldwide current market. He selected a bayfront web site in Miami for his tropical winter season home since of the location’s temperate winter weather and his appreciation of the indigenous hardwood hammock.
