Which is my Father on a travel all around his old ‘stomping grounds’! He’s 89 now and a little bit too ‘shaky’ to revisit them. This was the house that he moved to from Hulme at the age of four (1930) and remained in until finally immediately after his marriage in 1954 and my beginning in 1956. I was introduced again to this house soon after my start in Withington Hospital. We moved to rooms earlier mentioned his ‘Woodworker’s supplies’ store in Longsight by 1960, so I have only just one memory of this site – becoming in a back again area, wanting out of a window at chimney stacks and chimney cowls, then viewing a female I know now to be my Grandmother lying in mattress in the downstairs again space, thanks to her infirmity (she couldn’t climb stairs by this time), I was 3 decades aged when she died in 1959. The image of that again home is as vivid in my memory as a photograph…..!
