The Grade II Listed stays of Church of St Thomas A’ Becket, Heptonstall Road, Heptonstall, Calderdale, West Yorkshire.
The authentic church at Heptonstall was devoted to St Thomas a Becket and was crafted involving 1256 and 1260. Later on variations gave it two naves, two aisles and two chantry chapels as very well as a tower. Pursuing a storm in 1847 the west facial area of the tower fell away. Some measure of maintenance took put and the church was utilized up to 1854 when the current church was concluded at a expense of £7,000. The new church was consecrated on 26th October 1854 by Bishop Longley of Ripon and focused to St Thomas the Apostle, whilst the older church continues to be as a shell.

The current organ, part of the Gibson bequest, was crafted in 1964 by Hill, Norman and Beard.
There are a few adjacent churchyards at Heptonstall. The oldest is now closed and is all over the aged church with the second component close to the new church. The 3rd and newer churchyard is throughout Again Lane and is where the American poet Sylvia Plath, the initially wife of former Poet Laureate Ted Hughes, is buried.
The church has superior acoustics, and is used for the annual Pennine Spring Songs Festival, held every single Spring Lender Getaway 7 days. This contains workshops, masterclasses and performances.
It is also applied 2 times a calendar year for a Traidcraft weekend of good trade dresses, food stuff and items, with refreshments.
The previous church spoil is now meticulously taken care of and at times open air services are done there. It featured as a place in the 1993 BBC Television drama series, Mr. Wroe’s Virgins, which was directed by Danny Boyle.
