Building:
The dwelling at 20 Draper Street was created in 1889 as section of a 7-device rowhouse recognized as Nos. 20-32 Draper.
Charles McClelland created the homes for John Douglas, a Parkdale barrister.

Style and design:
The 2½-storey rowhouse displays options discovered with the Queen Anne type, popularized at the conclude of the
19th century. Increasing from a sandstone base, the constructing is lined by a gable roof. The walls are created of brick and trimmed with brick and sandstone. On the two-bay facade, a 2½-storey bay window is positioned beside a central entrance with a window higher than. The bay window is protected by a gable roof with ornamental woodwork showcasing carved brackets and finials. The panelled wood doorway with its flat transom is secured by an open single-storey porch with a get rid of roof, turned posts, carved brackets and scrollwork. Segmental-headed window openings have brick voussoirs and sandstone sills. No. 20 shares its height and architectural functions with the neighbouring homes at Nos. 22-32 Draper. The row of 2½-storey properties at Nos. 20-32 Draper has its setback and sample of projecting bay home windows in prevalent with the earlier cottages on the road, forming a cohesive team of
late-19th century structures.
